
Cape Fear Breeze: Wilmington's regional Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. The goal of the program is to develop and promote a range of transportation choices for the Wilmington region's citizens and visitors.
Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS): Managed by the Public Transit department of the City of Charlotte, CATS operates local and express buses, neighborhood shuttles, vanpools and carpools, and specialized transportation services for special needs customers. CATS is also in the early stages of building a state-of-the-art rapid transit system which will integrate bus, light rail, commuter rail and bus rapid transit into a comprehensive public transportation network for the 21st Century.
City of Asheville: The City of Asheville provides transportation to all parts of the City of Asheville and the surrounding area, including downtown, the hospitals, schools, malls, universities and residential areas. The city also has a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program, which assists commuters with finding alternatives to driving alone to work, works with local employers to promote methods alternative transportation, and more.
Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART): Regional public transportation authority for the Piedmont Triad region (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point). PART operates express buses, vanpools, and specialized transportation services for special needs customers.
Triangle Transit: Triangle Transit is a regional public transportation provider, offering a variety of transit and vanpool services to North Carolina's greater Triangle Region and outlying counties. Regional bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Hillsborough, RDU International Airport, Research Triangle Park (RTP) and Raleigh.
A vanpool is a group of 7-15 commuters who live and work near each other, and share approximately the same work hours. Typically, the vanpool driver rides for free, and the riders pay a low monthly fare based on the distance the vanpool travels. The following is a list of vanpool programs in North Carolina.
